How the Pre Check notification works during the Dispense Process:

In the Merlin Dispense screen, when you select an inventory item that is a monitored
medicine requiring a pre-check, enter a quantity and file the record, a pre-check message is
fired to the NDE service in the background.

When the RTPM Pre-Check panel in the bottom right of the dispense screen refreshes, the
result status of the message is displayed.

Depending on the outcome of the pre-check, one of five result statuses is displayed against
the checked monitored medication:

  • Green “0” or “No Records Exist”
- There is no cause for concern in the information on the patient's profile.
- The patient has no recent history; or has only had monitored medicines prescribed by a single prescriber and there are no alerts.

  • Amber “2” or “Record(s) Exist”
-  There is information in the patient’s profile (potential issue with script) which may require you to review before continuing with this script

  • Red “1” or “Alert(s) exist”
- There are recent clinical alert(s) (possibly from this script) which requires review.

  • Magenta “W”
- Waiting for a response from SafeScript. This may indicate an issue with connectivity to SafeScript. Contact  Pharmhos Support on 1300 PHARMHOS

  • Magenta “U”
- The received reply from SafeScript is unknown i.e. not a green, amber or red notification.
- Unknown indicates that either
   (a) the patient resides in a different state not covered by SafeScript; or
   (b) the medication is not a monitored medication.

The notifications help to quickly identify when there is information you should view in the relevant RTPM Portal.

Alternative Pre check notification – Final Check:

Pharmhos recognised early on that for many of our customers, a production line is used for dispensing and so it is possible a pharmacist does not interact with the prescription until the final check stage – as such we have placed the relevant Pre-check notification on each line of the Final Check (eg. [ccc) screen.
This notification is clickable, the same as from the dispense screen.
