Field 8: Re-order method


The recommended method to use is Discrete quantity:

<D>iscrete qty: The quantity to order is the Maximum Stock Quantity (Field 12) - [Quantity available (Stock on hand - Stock committed) + Total quantity Outstanding (on order)]

eg If the Maximum stock quantity is 10 and the Stock on hand is 2, stock committed is 1, the stock on order is 5, then the quantity to order is 10 - [(2-1) + 5] = 4.

<E>con Order: The quantity to be reordered is rounded up to the most economic quantity to order in Field 9. Reorder Qty.

The quantity required is the Maximum Stock Quantity (Field 12) - [Quantity available (Stock on hand - Stock Committed) + Total Outstanding (on order)].

The quantity to order = quantity to order + Reorder quantity (Field 9) rounded up to the most economical quantity to order.

eg If the Maximum stock quantity is 10 and the Stock on hand is 2, with no stock committed or on order, then the quantity to order is 10 - [(2)] = 8. This value is rounded up to 10 (which is the most economical quantity to order.

Stock is only ordered when the Quantity to order >= quantity required

<G>ross Usage: Takes into account the annual usage. The quantity to order is the Annual usage x Supplier Lead Time divided by the number of Business days.

<F>ixed order quantity: The quantity to order is the Re-Order quantity (Field 9) - Total Outstanding (on order)

eg If the Re-order quantity is 10 and the Total outstanding or on order is 5, the the quantity to order is 10 - 5 = 5.

The Critical Point highlights when stock has hit a level where it's probably time to re-stock. The Re-order Point is the point when if it's equal to or less than this value, then re-order is required. It drives the automatic re-order process and daily report.
